Overseas Chronograph Heritage
Vacheron Constantin launched the Overseas in 1996 as a sports watch for travellers, building on the 222 of 1977. The first Overseas Chronograph followed in 1999. The current generation, introduced in 2016, brought the six-sided Maltese-cross bezel, the half-Maltese-cross bracelet links and a new in-house chronograph movement. The 5500V/110R-B952 is the most luxurious version of that formula.
Design: Pink Gold Meets Overseas Blue
Warm 18K 5N pink gold runs through the case, bezel, crown, pushers and integrated bracelet. Brushed and polished surfaces alternate across the case and half-Maltese-cross links, catching light differently from every angle. The blue lacquered dial has three finishes: a sunburst centre, a velvet-finished outer ring and snailed chronograph counters. Pink gold hands and hour markers carry blue Super-LumiNova.
At 42.5mm by 13.7mm, it has strong wrist presence. Two extra straps, blue calfskin and blue rubber, each with its own pink gold buckle, swap in without tools for a lighter, more casual look.
Movement: Calibre 5200 Column-Wheel Chronograph
The in-house Calibre 5200 is a self-winding column-wheel chronograph with 263 components and 54 jewels, running at 4 Hz with about 52 hours of power reserve. The column wheel carries a Maltese-cross screw, and the 22K gold rotor is engraved with a compass rose motif. The movement holds the Hallmark of Geneva, and a soft-iron case ring shields it from magnetic fields.
